The University of Florida is seeking highly motivated a postdoctoral researcher and a graduate student to work on basic and applied aspects of citrus pathogens including citrus greening (Huanglongbing), a bacterial disease that is devastating the citrus industry in the United States and several other major citrus-producing countries. The successful candidates will be working at the University’s Southwest Florida Research and Education Center (http://swfrec.ifas.ufl.edu) in Immokalee FL, which is located about 30 miles east of Naples and Fort Myers, two beautiful cities on the gulf coast of Florida.

The successful candidate will join a research team of Citrus Pathologists, Physiologists, Horticulturists and Ag. Engineers whose goal is to develop delivery techniques of therapeutics into citrus vasculature. Citrus diseases caused by other pathogens and citrus tree physiology may also be investigated. Positions responsibilities include but are not limited to following: developing and testing research hypothesis, designing and executing lab, greenhouse and field experiments, collecting data, performing statistical analysis, writing reports and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.

Applicant must have excellent oral and writing communication skills. Candidates with experience in pathology and/or physiology related subjects and desire to conduct applied research in the field are preferred and encouraged to apply.

These two positions are available January 1, 2019 and both are full-time positions. Initial appointment for Post Doc is for one year and may be renewable up to four year dependent upon satisfactory performance. Salary is commensurate with experience.
